FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How long do sessions usually last?

That totally depends on your package! I like to offer different options and price points to fit everyone’s needs.  My smaller packages start at 20 mins, and larger packages and larger family shoots last up to an hour.

What if my child(ren) is acting up during the shoot?

I am a mama too, and totally understand that kids are unpredictable.  That's okay! I always leave some extra time between shoots to work in a tantrum or two.  Usually after a short break, we are ready to go.  It's a priority of mine to meet families where they are, to ensure everything feels as comfortable as possible.

This is another reason I do more "documentary" or "natural" style photography.  It gives children an opportunity to be themselves, and are not just expected to sit and smile the whole time.  The less direction you give to children, the happier they will be!

I have family/friends in from out of town, can they join in on our photoshoot too?

There is nothing more I love than to see extended family and friends be themselves in front of my lens.  They are absolutely welcome to join!

If your family and friends want additional photos of their family only (say your sister and her kids want some family portraits as well), there is a $50 fee for each additional family group.

What if it rains on the day of my photoshoot?

I know rain can sound like a real bummer, but sometimes its really fun to play around in! Overcast is the perfect weather for photos (no squinting or super harsh light), but of course if the day just looks absolutely dreadful, we will reschedule for another time.

What should I wear?

I get this questions a lot.  It really all depends on the type of shoot you are looking for, and what your family is comfortable in! If it's a holiday shoot and you all want to wear your pajamas, do it! If you want to come in a 3 piece suit, do it! This is your time to shine.  The only piece of advice I have is to not mix and match too many patterns between family members.  This keeps the look "clean", and the focus to your beautiful faces!

Can we do an outfit change?

The shoot is your own! You are welcome to change your outfit (say a holiday pajama photo, and then a holiday dressy photo), but just remember, the more time you spend changing, is less time in front of the camera.

Where are your photo sessions located?

Photos are done at a location of your choice, and can be anywhere from the beach, to the park, to the farm, to your home.  As a natural light photographer, I work with you to find somewhere that will give us great lighting for your preferences.  You are welcome to get creative and think outside the box! Most newborn sessions are done inside your home, with extra time slotted for a few outdoor photos if weather appropriate.

Can I bring my pet to the photoshoot?

You sure can! I love when fur babies are part of our shoots! Just plan ahead of time what to do with your furry friend if you don't want them to be in evey photo (I.e. bringing someone to watch them, having a spot to tie them, etc.). Of course, these are my rules, not location rules.  If they differ, we need to abide by the rules of the location.

What if my house is too small/messy/disorganized for a newborn shoot?

Don't worry about the condition of your home, it doesn't have to be spotless to get great photos.  All I really need is a made bed, a spot near a window, a spot of clean floor, and a chair or two!

How long does it take to get my photos back?

I know waiting is the hardest part! I try to get your photos returned to you within 10 business days, but normal turn around time is 10-15 days from your session.

*Wedding/Business/Event galleries typically have a 3 weeks turn around time, depending on the photo volume,

How do I get my photos?

Your photos will be given to you in a digital gallery, all ready to be downloaded and yours to keep forever! I do ask that if you print or post my photos, you don't alter them in any way (I.e. adding filters, changing colors, cropping, etc) to keep my "artwork" authentic.

Do you photoshop?

In short, no.  I will remove cosmetic things here and there, or if you request something simple like a blemish correction.  I typically smooth out skin a bit, and take away skinned knees and bruises.  But I will never change the shape of your body.  I encourage you to let me document you the way you are, in your current season of life.  One day you will look back and realize your size never mattered.

Do I need to put down a deposit?

A $100 deposit is needed to reserve your date and time for the session.  The rest of the payment will be collected the day of the shoot.  Deposits allow me as a photographer to be prepared and reliable for all clients, and to know my clients are serious about booking.  Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferrable to other dates or services if needed.

Can I leave you a review?

I thought you'd never ask! Reviews are great ways to give back to your small business owners, at zero extra cost.  Owning a small business means relying on word of mouth reviews and recommendations, and I would be elated if you left a review!  I'm working on a reviews page as we speak, but for now, please feel free to email me through this website and I will add your review as soon as possible.

What if I have a question, comment, concern, or weren't happy with my photos?

I absolutely want you to be a happy client.  If you have any concerns, questions, or comments, please feel free to reach out to me through my email link.  I want to make sure you feel as if your investment was worth it.
